Fans have been left confused by tonight’s episode of The Masked Singer as the show appears to have taken on a spooky theme. Despite it being January, producers have opted for theme that seems more fitting for Halloween.
Tonight’s episode, the fourth of season seven, saw fans greeted with a “Spooktacular” theme. Host Joel Dommett took to the stage Wednesday Addams-style outfit while judges Maya Jama, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross also dressed in a spooky theme. Guest judge, Ben Shephard, also took on the spooky theme, dressed as scarecrow.
Introducing the show Joel joked that the show was being held in “January, or Janu-scary as it will henceforth be known”. Maya Jama wore a Medusa-inspired outfit with snake-themed elements.
Davina McCall appeared in a cobweb-adorned look, adding to the eerie vibe. Mo Gilligan was dressed in a werewolf-style costume while Jonathan Ross appeared with green face paint and a silver suit.
Fans have been baffled by the theme, taking to X to share their confusion. One person posted: “I do not understand having a Halloween theme in JANUARY.”
Another said: “I don’t get it why is the #maskedsingeruk doing a sort of Halloween theme tonight.” Fans watching at home also took to X to speculate on who Can of Worms is.
Guesses on social media have seen the same name arise with many pointing to JLS singer Marvin Humes.
Taking to X, one viewer commented: “Is Marvin from JLS can of worms?!!” Another fan said: “I swear i’ve just heard Marvin Humes voice.”
A third viewer posted: “Can of worms is definitely Marvin from JLS.”
Meanwhile a fourth fan guessed: “After that little bit I’m getting Marvin Humes for can of worms.”
The Masked Singer UK airs Saturdays at 7PM on ITV1 and ITVX.
