A woman was cut free from a car this morning following a crash. Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported just before 10am on Monday, January 19 that Walton Road, the A59, in Everton was partially blocked in both directions to a “police incident” from A5050 Kirkdale Vale to Pugin Street.

Walton Road is a busy road that connects Liverpool city centre with Everton, Queen’s Drive and the north of the city. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said the force received a report at around 9.20am this morning of a crash involving a grey Vauxhall Mokka and a grey Ford Fiesta on Walton Road.

A woman who was inside one of the vehicles suffered a neck injury and was removed from the car. Walton Road was closed by officers whilst emergency services were at the scene and both cars were removed.

Buses were also diverted in the area. The road has now reopened.

At 11.05am, Inrix said that the road had been cleared and traffic had returned to normal.
