The full-back was released from the final year of his contract at The Halliwell Jones Stadium earlier this month, bringing a three-and-a-half year stint in England to an end following a turbulent end to what turned out to be his last season with The Wire.

And having returned to his homeland, Wide World of Sports are now reporting that the 30-year-old speedster has penned a deal to join South Sydney Rabbitohs.

However, Souths chief executive Blake Solly is quoted as saying Dufty has not been signed with a place in their first-team in mind, and he instead will play in their reserve-grade side.

He said: “It’s a NSW Cup contract – not top 30 or development list.”

Having been dropped for disciplinary reasons before being briefly restored and then moved out of position to centre, Dufty saw his number one shirt handed to youngster Cai Taylor-Wray for 2026 with rivals clubs offered his services.

With nobody having made a move, an agreement was reached to release Dufty early having scored 47 tries in 88 appearances in primrose and blue.
