If you’re looking at market share, Apple was tops in global smartwatches last year with an estimated 23% according to Counterpoint Research. Huawei was second with an 18% slice of the global smartwatch pie. The list does get a significant shakeup if we’re talking about smartwatch units shipped for all of 2025. In that case, Huawei is the leader with Xiaomi second, Apple third, Samsung fourth, and Garmin fifth.Learn what the chances are of your heart’s arteries getting blocked

The Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 has a brand-new health feature courtesy of an update to HarmonyOS firmware version 6.0.0.209. Among the new features is a screening tool that delivers to you your coronary heart disease risk assessment results. This feature looks at some health-related data to determine the chances that you will develop a blockage in your heart’s arteries. Using the Huawei research app on your Huawei phone, you sign up to join the coronary heart disease research project.

Once you’re signed up for the research project, the app will collect vital signs during the day and night. After wearing the timepiece for three to four days, the app will reveal the user’s coronary heart disease risk assessment. The Huawei smartphone must be running HarmonyOS 5 and later while the Huawei Research app has to be updated to version 1.1.10.320 or later. A wheelchair mode has also been added to the activity log to give those using a wheelchair a personalized exercise regimen.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 gives users the ability to access professional-tier cycling data without requiring them to buy and attach a separate physical cadence sensor to their bike’s crank arm. That’s because the watch’s outdoor cycling mode features real-time simulated cadence support. This mode includes and bicycle type selection and 3D distance compensation prompts for a more professional cycling experience.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 allows users to control some features on a nearby Android phone via their wrist

With the 3D distance compensation feature, the watch uses its built-in barometer and GPS to calculate your actual path through space instead of tracking you as a flat movement on a map. A 2D tracker would make it appear that a bike traveling on a 45-degree slope for one mile had moved just 0.7 miles forward because it wouldn’t pick up the vertical ascent. The update also allows Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 users to access some features on an Android smartphone from their wrists including the camera.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 smartwatch was unveiled last November alongside the Mate 80 flagship smartphone series. It features a Zirconium-based liquid metal case, while the display is protected with sapphire glass. We reviewed the Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 smartwatch and gave it a great score of 8.5 points out of 10. Of course, in the U.S., you are not going to be able to walk into a carrier store and pick up this device. You might be able to find a firm that will import it into the U.S.This remains the Holy Grail of smartphone manufacturersSeveral Huawei timepieces offer health-related features that are not available on Apple or Samsung watches. For example, the Huawei Watch D2 uses a micro air-bag to measure the user’s blood pressure. The Watch D2 is the first smartwatch certified to perform Ambulatory Monitoring. This means that the watch automatically inflates and checks your blood pressure at set intervals, including while you’re sleeping. The result is a 24-hour map showing the health of your heart.

In China and in parts of Europe and the Middle East, the watch monitors your risk of having high blood sugar, which could be a sign of diabetes. Apple and Samsung watches cannot do this. Of course, both are working on a way to show an Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch user’s glucose levels using non-invasive sensors. This is the Holy Grail of smartphone-based health features that every smartwatch manufacturer is trying to create.

It should be pointed out that the health features on Huawei watches are not certified by the FDA as Apple and Samsung’s are, although they have received medical clearance in Europe from CE MDR and in China from NMPA. The health features from Huawei watches that received such regulatory approval include:

ECG Analysis.Blood Pressure.Arterial Stiffness. Hyperglycemia Risk.
