Rangers’ marquee loan capture of Andres Skov Olsen last week has got fans excited that their latest recruit can lead the club all the way to the Premiership title.
Skov Olsen has arrived from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, with Gers having the option to buy him outright for around £8.6million. His signing was preceded by the £7million forked out to recruit midfielder Tochi Chukwuani and full back Tuur Rommens from Sturm Graz and Westerlo respectively as Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises continue to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to recruitmen
And while Rangers will have to offload fringe members of the squad to ensure it doesn’t become bloated, boss Danny Rohl admits he is still hoping they can bring in another two new faces before the February 2 deadline. And Record Sport’s very own Keith Jackson believes supporters could be wowed by another arrival very much in the ilk of Denmark star Skov Olsen.
Asked about Rangers’ plans for the remaining 11 days of the January window on Wednesday night’s Hotline Live, he replied: “That sounds to me like Rangers think they’ve got a possible rabbit up their sleeve.
“[Rohl] said enough to make you think that he’s pretty confident that they do have something big still to come.
“Which is surprising because I think most looked at Skov Olsen and thought that would be the big capture of the window. It leads me to believe that they might have another of a similar stature in the pipeline.”
Ibrox icon Brian Laudrup exclusively revealed to Record Sport that he gave Skov Olsen a pep talk about joining the Light Blues and believes he can become the club’s next Great Dane.
He stated: “I’ve seen Andreas a lot over the years, particularly with the national team. He’s like an old-fashioned winger and it’s rare these days to find players like that. He hugs the line and has the ability to take players on.
“Andreas has qualities to get Rangers fans out of their seats. He loves to assist his team-mates. He can also score goals, his left foot is very good and powerful.

“The pressure is always there at Rangers. But I think Andreas will put as much pressure on himself as anyone else will.
“He’s that type of guy. He wants to do well and prove something. That’s what I got out of the conversation I had with him.
“It would be unfair to compare him to other players of the past. But he’s got the ability to be a player the Rangers fans would pay to see.
“Please, be patient with him. But he’s got something in his locker that can do great things for Rangers as a team.
“Right now, I think they need a player who can do something on his own. A player who is unpredictable, with the ability to be creative and take players on.
“We’ve seen that in the past at Ibrox – but perhaps not in recent times. That’s what Andreas is capable of doing.”
