These monetisation attempts have drawn heavy criticism from the Call of Duty community, but the teams making up Battlefield Studios aren’t looking to follow in those footsteps.
Speaking to DBLTAP, design director Shashank Uchil said Battlefield 6 will stay grounded and emulate Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. “I don’t think it needs Nicki Minaj. Let’s keep it real, keep it grounded.” Then, in conversation with Video Gamer, UX director Alan Pimm explained the package is all about “gritty realism” when discussing character appearances.
Battlefield 6 will still have optional skins to equip your character with, as confirmed by the $100 Phantom Edition offering instant access to four Phantom Squad outfits. There’ll also be a Battle Pass that presumably includes skins as rewards. However, according to lead figures within Battlefield Studios, these costumes will remain realistic to the setting.
Next week, the Battlefield 6 beta will begin, offering early access and then two full weekends of play for everyone to try out. Refer to our Battlefield 6 beta guide for information on how to gain early access and start times:
