Timothee Chalamet is officially in the same league as the late Hollywood legend Marlon Brando after the 2026 Oscar nominations were announced.
The 30-year-old is now the youngest male actor since the late Brando to have received three acting nominations after he earned a nod for Marty Supreme on Thursday.
Brando had three Oscar nominations under his belt by the time he turned the same age, earning nods for 1951’s A Streetcar Named Desire, 1952’s Viva Zapata!, and 1953’s Julius Caesar.
Chalamet, who celebrated his 30th birthday last month, received his first-ever Oscar nomination for the 2017 drama Call Me By Your Name followed by a second nod for A Complete Unknown last year.
The star will now be facing off against Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Michael B Jordan (Sinners), and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent) in the coveted Best Actor category.
Marty Supreme tells the story of US table tennis player and shoe salesman Marty Reisman, who dreams of triumphing in a British tournament and defeating defending Hungarian champion Bela Kletzki.

Brando already had three Oscar nominations under his belt by the time he turned 30
Since its release last month, Chalamet has been tipped as an awards frontrunner for his leading role in the film.
The critically acclaimed actor has already received accolades for his portrayal of an aspiring table tennis champion at the Critics’ Choice Awards and Golden Globes.
After picking up his Golden Globe on stage, Chalamet tipped his proverbial hat to nominees George Clooney, Hawke, Lee Byung-hun, Jesse Plemons and DiCaprio, saying: ‘This category is stacked. I look up to all of you.’
Now he is in the running to receive Hollywood’s highest honor.
The Oscar nominations were announced Thursday morning and saw Ryan Coogler’s Sinners film making Academy Awards history.
The film earned a record 16 nominations, including the biggest prize of the night, Best Picture.
The horror flick is one of the ten titles up for the honor as the field is rounded out by: Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Train Dreams.
Jessie Buckley will no doubt be the favorite in the Actress in a Leading Role category for her work in Hamnet as she will face a star-studded field including Rose Byrne – If I Had Legs I would Kick You, Kate Hudson – Song Sung Blue, Renate Reinsve – Sentimental Value and Emma Stone – Bugonia.
There was massive fan backlash as Ariana Grande was subbed in the Actress in a Supporting Role category for Wicked: For Good. Last year, she was nominated for her work in the first film of the musical franchise.

Perhaps even more shocking was Wicked: For Good was completely shut out of nominations including one for Grande’s co-star Cynthia Erivo for Best Actress, Best Picture.
It also missed out on nods for Best Original Song despite new numbers written for the film, including No Place Like Home sung by Erivo and The Girl In The Bubble sung by Grande.
Meanwhile, the nominees for Actress in a Supporting role included: Elle Fanning – Sentimental Value, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Amy Madigan – Weapons, Wunmi Mosaku – Sinners, and Teyana Taylor – One Battle After Another.
In addition to Grande’s snub, Gwyneth Paltrow was left off the list in the category for her work in Marty Supreme.
When it came to Actor in a Supporting Role, the star-studded field includes: Benicio del Toro – One Battle After Another, Jacob Elordi – Frankenstein, Delroy Lindo – Sinners, Sean Penn – One Battle After Another, and Stellan Skarsgard – Sentimental Value.
Chalamet is now in the running to win Hollywood’s highest honor
Paul Mescal for Hamnet, Adam Sandler for Jay Kelly, and Jesse Plemons for Bugonia are considered to be major snubs in this category.
The Best Director category is filled with some of the greatest filmmakers of the modern era as Chloé Zhao – Hamnet, Josh Safdie – Marty Supreme, Paul Thomas Anderson – One Battle After Another, Joachim Trier – Sentimental Value, and Ryan Coogler – Sinners, all were recognized.
There was a new award announced this year for Best Casting as the inaugural field includes: Nina Gold – Hamnet, Jennifer Venditti – Marty Supreme, Cassandra Kulukundis – One Battle After Another, Gabriel Domingues – The Secret Agent, and Francine Maisler – Sinners.
Best Animated Feature Film nods went to Arco, Elio, KPop Demon Hunters, Little Amelie Or the Character Of Rain, and Zootopia 2.
