A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a car collided with two parked cars in Moston. Emergency services were called to Lightbowne Road after reports of a collision at around 12.10am on Sunday morning (January 25, 2026).

Residents on neighbouring Oscar Street described seeing a dark coloured vehicle ‘rolled’ on its side following the collision. It is understood that one male casualty was taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service for precautionary checks.

Greater Manchester Police have said that a man, in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

One resident who lives on Oscar Street said: “I was just about to get into bed when I heard this almighty bang.”

“I told my husband to go and have a look at what it was. He came back in and told me to ring the emergency services as a carwas on its side.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly before 12.15am on Sunday 25 January, two fire engines from Manchester Central and Philips Park fire stations, and the Technical Response Unit from Leigh Community Fire Station, were called to attend a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Lightbowne Road, Manchester.

“Crews arrived quickly and worked alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe. One male casualty was taken to hospital for precautionary checks by North West Ambulance Service.

“Firefighters departed after approximately one hour at the scene.”
