Rory Townsend has a new team, which has come up with this fine effort at an Irish national champion’s kit, much like Nicolas Roche’s Team Sky livery back in 2016
Rory Townsend was getting his 2026 season underway at Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana today, Sunday. And that means the Irish men’s national road race champion rolled out in his national champion’s kit for the first time with new team Unibet Rose Rockets.
The kit, which looks fantastic, is a mostly white, very sparse, look with just a green band on around the torso, featuring a white shamrock, and the colours of the tricolour on the sleeves, with matching gloves.
The sponsor logos have also been kept more discreet on the champion’s kit compared with the standard team jerseys worn by the other riders.
All in all, it looks like a winner; very fresh, with the colours of the Irish flag, especially the green, subtly display on a white background. It is very similar to the design Team Sky came up with for Nicolas Roche after he won his second national road race title in Kilcullen, Co Kildare, back in 2016.
Roche’s kit was also mostly white with a green band, in a slightly darker shade, around the jersey and with a white shamrock, albeit slightly smaller than Townsend’s. Roche’s kit at the time was a fan’s favourite and Townsend’s will likely all be well received.
