Warrington Wolves boss Sam Burgess has hailed new recruit Kelepi Tanginoa as an “important signing” following his off-season switch from Hull KR.
The strike back-rower has begun a new two-year deal at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, bringing an end to his spell with the Robins, where he made 59 appearances and scored 16 tries across two seasons.
Of those outings, 29 came during Hull KR’s record-breaking campaign, as Tanginoa made a consistent impact from the interchange bench while the Robins claimed the League Leaders’ Shield, Challenge Cup and Super League title across 2025.
Warrington had tracked the New South Wales native for some time, including before his move to Sewell Group Craven Park, and finally secured his signature last November despite Tanginoa having 12 months remaining on his Hull KR contract.
Now set to make his mark as Warrington’s seventh new addition for 2026, Tanginoa is expected to add power and experience to the Wolves’ pack, with England and NRL legend Burgess keen to see the forward make an impact.
“I think he was an important signing,” Burgess told Hull Live.
“He’s a great guy and a great professional. With the news around Adam Holroyd [being injured], it was clear pretty early that he was going to be out for a little bit, so I felt that might be an area we’d be short in. Kelepi brings experience into an important role – he’s a great pick-up for us.
“Back-row is his preferred position. He can add some real punch on our edge, and I think that’s where he’s most dangerous.”
