Nicolo Savona is set to have a knee injury assessed today, with Nottingham Forest head coach Sean Dyche uncertain how long the defender could be sidelined for.
The full-back is “unlikely” to be involved in Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Ferencvaros at the City Ground (8pm kick-off). He was an unused substitute in Sunday’s 2-0 win away to Brentford but did not take part in training with his teammates this morning (Wednesday) ahead of the midweek game.
The Reds are already without long-term absentee Chris Wood. Meanwhile, goalkeeper John Victor is expected to miss the rest of the season following surgery after he sustained a knee injury against Aston Villa earlier this month.
“He’s going to be out for a while,” Dyche said of Victor in his pre-match press conference. “It’s an unfortunate one.

“We weren’t sure how serious it was when he did it at Villa. It was serious enough to keep him out for a while. We will have to wait on that one
“Sav has got a knee situation we are having looked at. We don’t think it’s too serious at this time but we have got to check it out. He’s unlikely to be figuring, I think.
“Sav is a situation we have got to get on top of, more than anything. He will be seeing a specialist today – more as a secondary check to make sure it is what we think it is.
“It could be days, it could be weeks. We are hopefully going to find out over the next 24 hours.”

Wood had an operation on his knee at the end of last year. He has not played since October but is said to be making a gradual recovery.
“It is just steady progress,” Dyche said of the New Zealand international. “The repair on the knee has gone well and it is just steady progress now. It is week by week and making sure it is going in the right direction, which it certainly is so far.”
Igor Jesus has led the line for the Reds in Wood’s absence, but will now have some competition following the signing of Lorenzo Lucca on loan from Napoli last week. Forest want to add another forward before the window closes next Monday but Dyche insists that is not connected to Wood’s situation.
“No, it’s nothing to do with his injury,” he said. “We are just focusing on his injury, that’s all. He is a very good player. He has made that clear to everyone here, for sure.”
