Hall of fame fighter Tim Bradley has called for a former unified world champion to hang the gloves up for good.
Known by his moniker ‘Desert Storm’, Bradley competed as a professional for 12 years between 2004 and 2016, suffering just two defeats throughout the course of his career.
He captured world titles at super lightweight and welterweight during his tenure and defeated the likes of Lamont Peterson, Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao along the way.
Bradley shared the ring with Pacquiao on three occasions between 2012 and 2016, defeating the Filipino great in their first encounter to capture the WBO world welterweight title before falling short in their rematch and trilogy bout.
Speaking on his own Youtube channel, Bradley sent a message out to another man who would go on to hold that belt in Errol Spence Jr, urging the 35-year-old to retire from the sport unless he plans to make a comeback for financial gain.
“Errol Spence, don’t come back man, unless you need the money. Don’t come back man, you don’t need that man, you don’t need boxing bro. Look, you’ve done enough already, you know, ultimately it’s gonna be your decision like Manny Pacquiao, same thing, and everybody else coming out the woodwork looking for that Turki money. If you need the money I get it, I understand it, but for your health man, shoot we ain’t no fools.”
Spence has not fought since he suffered the first defeat of his career to Terence Crawford in July of 2023, surrendering his WBC, WBA and IBF welterweight titles to the two-weight undisputed champion in the process.
‘The Truth’ had been tipped to make a return to the ring at 154lbs earlier this year however this did not come to fruition, leaving boxing fans wondering whether he is heading towards retirement – something he has never officially confirmed.
Spence was in a single car crash in October 2019 in Dallas that left him hospitalised in intensive care with facial lacerations and dental injuries but miraculously, no broken bones. In August 2021 he was diagnosed with a retinal tear in his left eye, requiring surgery and forcing him to withdraw from a scheduled mega‑fight with Pacquiao.
