Tom Hiddleston has given up the update all of us have been waiting for – whether The Night Manager will receive a third season or not after the show’s second instalment dazzled fans and critics alike.
The nail-biting thriller, which began in 2016, follows former soldier and luxury hotel manager Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston), who is recruited by Foreign Office manager Angela Burr (Olivia Colman).
The second season has seen Jonathan, now an MI6 officer, go undercover once more in the shady world of arms dealing to infiltrate the world of warlord Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva).
Ahead of the final episode, Loki icon Hiddleston has opened up on whether fans can expect The Night Manager to return in the future.
During an appearance on This Morning, he said: “I can reveal that there will be, there’s gonna be more. We always constructed this one as the beginning of a 12-episode story. So that actually, it gave us, I think, greater scope in terms of imagining where this story might go, knowing we had another season to come.
“We like trilogies. There’s something satisfying about trilogies, narratively.”

The Hollywood star also confirmed that they “will be sooner” with new episodes in comparison to the 10-year gap between seasons one and two.
It comes after Hiddleston previously opened up on the enormous season two twist that Hugh Laurie’s Richard ‘Dickie’ Roper was actually alive after previously being assumed to have been executed.
Speaking on The One Show about the reveal, he said: “Here’s the thing about Hugh and Richard Roper, [the book’s author] John Le Carré described the character as the worst man in the world.

“He’s elite, privileged, the recipient of all the freedoms of British democracy and still does something very cynical, but he’s played by the most charming man in the world.
“That’s the great tension, the audience love Hugh Laurie, and they love him as Richard Roper. He’s back and what’s so exciting, where we’re going now is, you realise these two characters are somehow going to confront each other again.”
The Night Manager season 2 airs new episodes Sunday nights on BBC One and iPlayer.
