Coronation Street icon Simon Gregson is flogging £37 tickets to a curry evening as his financial troubles continue.
Simon Gregson is also selling his car to foot his huge tax bill. The actor who is best known for playing Steve McDonald on the ITV soap opera is following an order to repay a loan totalling £252,000. He is also facing losing his home.
The actor, 51, could be left to sell his home following the closure of his business, Simon Gregson Productions Ltd, which owed the tax office and bank £165,000 after going into liquidation. A repayment of £252,000 had been demanded from the firm’s coffers and paid into a separate account controlled by the actor.

Simon’s curry night is going for £37 per head
Simon was also spotted posing beside his 2005 black Ford Fiesta as he announced he’s selling it at auction. But now it appears Simon can’t generate income quickly enough, as he’s agreed to chat with fans at a £25 per person event alongside presenter Paul Cowland.
The event, taking place in Derby next month, is titled “Paul Cowland hosts an audience with Simon Gregson.” Fans can enhance their evening by splashing out an additional £12 for a curry and a drink.
The event poster said: “Coronation Street legend and petrol head Simon Gregson comes to Derby! Chatting about his life, his love of cars and his experiences on the cobbles. Enjoy an event of laughs, drinks and good food at Great Northern Classics.
“The five hour meet and greet has yet to sell out. Simon’s financial woes escalated when he triggered a confidential report to the government on his conduct after transferring £252,000 from Simon Gregson Productions Ltd into a private account.
Initially, liquidators said the star claimed he been told to repay the missing cash at £1,500 per month. Advising him that after 36 months the balance must be paid from the sale of his house. However, a report on the company filed this week revealed he’d only repaid £18,000 over the past 12 months.
Liquidators Begbies Taynor wrote: “We have received £18,000 during the year under review in respect of the overdrawn Directors loan account which is in line with the terms of the settlement agreement.
“We have been unable to conclude our duties during this period, in view of the balance outstanding on the Directors loan account. Consequently, the administration of the case will continue into the next period.” The company stated that the costs of winding up the business totalled approximately £51,000, although a £44,000 limit on its expenses was established.

Simon plays Steve McDonald in Coronation Street
Simon shot to fame when he first appeared on the legendary soap back in 1989, playing Steve McDonald. Simon’s character Steve has been embroiled in massive storylines throughout the past 37 years, from being imprisoned for almost a year to being left for dead in a playground. Throughout his stint on the programme, Steve has wed seven times and been labelled a serial womaniser.
Viewers now believe he will reconcile with former partner Tracy following the revelation that Cassie Plummer, portrayed by Claire Sweeney, is departing. Steve and Cassie shared a controversial and short-lived romance, but with her imminent exit from the scene, there’s nothing preventing a reignited love affair.
