ARD has launched a vote to find the most popular song that Germany has sent to the Eurovision Song Contest.

As part of celebrations marking 70 years of the Eurovision Song Contest, the German broadcaster has opened a vote to find Germany’s most popular Eurovision entry. Fans can vote now on Eurovision.de and can vote up to five times for any song that has represented Germany since its debut in the contest in 1956.

Die Grand Prix Hitliste – Die schönsten Songs Europas, was held in 2005 and saw twenty songs from Eurovision Song Contest history compete to be named The Best Song, Ruslana would win the competition with “Wild Dances”, receiving 71,209 votes.

Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest+

Germany was one of seven countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. The country has taken part in every contest since then, apart from in 1996, when they failed to make it through the qualifying round. To date, Germany has won the contest twice. The first time was in 1982 when Nicole sang “Ein Bisschen Frieden” in Harrogate, which later became a global hit. Germany didn’t win again until 2010 when Lena sang “Satellite” in Oslo. She received 9 sets of 12 points, scoring 246 points overall.
