Halifax’s Piece Hall is set to host former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne this summer as part of his Who Is The Sky? world tour.

The multi-award-winning former frontman of Talking Heads is promised to electrify audiences on Saturday, July 18 – with tickets on sale at 10am on Friday, February 6.

Byrne, an Oscar, Golden Globe, GRAMMY, and Tony award recipient, co-founded the multi-platinum-selling band Talking Heads in New York in 1975 – which saw him inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.

Byrne’s latest album, ‘Who Is The Sky?’, was released in September and features collaborations with notable artists such as Hayley Williams, St. Vincent, and Tom Skinner of The Smile.

Byrne is more than a musician

Byrne, born in Scotland and raised in Canada and America, is a renowned musician, writer, visual artist and filmmaker.

Building on the optimism of his 2018 release, American Utopia, Byrne’s new album and world tour continue his lifelong pursuit of human connection and societal unity amidst global disorder.

The Who Is The Sky? album is known for its cinematic, humorous, and joyful take on love and the true meaning of enlightenment.

In early 2026, Byrne covered Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Driver’s License’ to commemorate the song’s five-year anniversary, the first of a series celebrating Rodrigo’s debut album ‘Soar’, which dropped in June.

This announcement brings the number of show scheduled for next summer at TK Maxx Presents Live at The Piece Hall to 39, with even more acts yet to be revealed.

Bringing world-class art and culture to Calderdale

Sharing his thoughts on the upcoming concert, Nicky Chance-Thompson MBE DL FRSA, CEO of The Piece Hall Trust, said: “Yet another iconic musician is heading to our iconic venue in 2026.

“Bringing world-class art and culture to Calderdale is part of The Piece Hall’s mission and we’re absolutely delivering with David Byrne, who’s such a respected artist and creative.”

Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday, February 6 from ticketmaster.co.uk.
