A beloved Gogglebox star’s wife has been flooded with support after a “mum fail”.
Baasit Siddiqui shot to fame when he appeared in the first series of the hit Channel 4 reality show back in 2013, along with several other family members.
Over the years, Baasit has been joined on the sofa by his two brothers, Umar and Raza, as well as their father, Sid – who recently celebrated his 81st birthday. Baasit’s mum, Nasreen, has not appeared on the show.
The Derby-based family quickly became firm favourites with Gogglebox fans, known for their hilarious one-liners and comical takes on the latest TV shows and films.
Away from the show, Baasit spends his life with wife Melissa. The couple, who got married in 2014, are parents to two children, Amelia and Theodore.

On Wednesday (February 4), Mel shared an update with her Instagram followers after she unexpectedly had to go and buy her son a new pair of school shoes.
In a Reel with the words “mum fail” written across it, Mel explained: “So, Theodore decided to tell me this morning that his toes are curling up in his shoes. He said, ‘Oh, my toes are curled up like this [makes fist].’ Bad mum alert over here.”
Mel then showed footage of her urgent trip to the shop to buy her son a new pair of shoes. “Secured the goods,” she confirmed, before sharing a photo of her celebratory coffee afterwards.
The post’s caption read: “Today in a nutshell… why do kids like to throw curveballs like this? Why not tell me before today that they were a bit tight? How long has he been walking around with his toes curled.”

Fans quickly shared their support in the comments section, with one person writing: “Please don’t feel bad Mel, you are a brilliant mum. My daughter walked around with the sole hanging off, she never said a word for weeks, they have far more important things to think about at their ages, bless.”
Another fan reassured the star, saying: “Because the feet haven’t got to the brain yet… too much other stuff to deal with… he’d have got there in the end… but much later than you!!”
Mel replied: “Kids really do make you laugh don’t they! Would love to know what’s going on in that head of his.”
This comes after Baasit and Mel’s son, Theodore, celebrated a momentous moment when he lost his first tooth. Taking to Instagram earlier this week, Mel wrote: “Big moment for Theodore this weekend – he FINALLY lost his first tooth!! He been waiting so long bless him & Sunday was the day!
“Amelia’s been in bed with the flu, bless her…so not as much of a fun weekend for her. Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend? Monday let’s go.”
