Award-winning musician Mika has been filming in Kent.

The singer-songwriter headed to Dungeness last month to film the video for his new single Excuses for Love.

Mika, best known for hits such as Grace Kelly and Love Today, released his latest album Hyperlove on January 23.

The music video for his new single came out earlier today, with the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway (RH&DR) announcing it had been filmed in Kent last month.

It said: “Back in January, we welcomed Mika to our Dungeness Station, where he filmed his new music video Excuses for Love.

“The music video was released today and we are so excited to finally be able to share it with you.”

The video follows Mika, whose real name is Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr, as he drives through the hamlet in a Jaguar, featuring shots of the Dungeness sign and views of the power station and sea.

There are also clips of the singer walking across the shingle, some of which show both the historic Old Lighthouse and the new lighthouse.

Later on in the video, Mika, who starred in Channel 4’s talent show The Piano, is seen at the Dungeness railway station, and later getting onto one of the steam trains – with one scene including one of RH&DR’s drivers.

It also includes scenes with the Bournemouth Youth Marching Band, which said it “couldn’t be more excited” following the release of the video.

It added: “Being part of such a creative and high-profile project has been an incredible experience for our young and not so young musicians.

“We’re so grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a talented artist and team. This is a huge moment for the band and a memory we’ll treasure forever.”

Last week, Oscar-winning actor Olivia Colman was spotted filming in Kent as crews set up on Romney Marsh.

The 52-year-old had been seen in Dungeness on Thursday and Friday, alongside Irish actor Andrew Scott – as cameras rolled for the new Elsinore film.

The pair were seen at Prospect Cottage, the former home of artist Derek Jarman.

In September, crews were spotted in Deal filming Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice.

Carriages and other props lined Beach Street as filming got underway for the Jane Austen adaptation.
