Police are investigating following the sudden death of a man in Liverpool city centre this afternoon. Emergency services were called to James Street at just after 4.25pm on Thursday, February 5, after concerns were raised for a man in his 60s outside the Heeton Concept Hotel.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A cordon was put in place outside the hotel while emergency services attended the incident but this has since been removed.

Merseyside Police said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death at this time. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the man’s identity and trace his next of kin.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We are investigating following the sudden death of a man in Liverpool City Centre.

“We were contacted just after 4.25pm today, Thursday 5 February, by the North West Ambulance Service, following concern for a man in his 60s outside Heeton Concept Hotel on James Street.

“The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances. Enquiries are ongoing to find the man’s next of kin.”
