New Hull FC signing Sam Lisone says he’s sick of bashing up his team-mates and is ready to take his pre-season frustrations out on Super League.
The 31-year-old former Samoan international is a new addition at the MKM Stadium this season having made the switch from Leeds Rhinos, where he has spent the past three campaigns.
‘Slammin’ Sam arrives as arguably the headline recruit for the Black and Whites, boosting the punch to a pack that has also added James Bell and Harvie Hill alongside the likes of big hitters Herman Ese’Ese, Liam Knight and John Asiata.
FC’s new-look pack have spent the winter tearing into each other at training and finally got a chance to have a run out against Wigan Warriors on Sunday in a pre-season friendly.
Next up is Salford in the Challenge Cup tonight as John Cartwright’s men officially get their competitive 2026 season up and running.
Starting at Salford in the Cup and then at home to Bradford Bulls next week in the Super League opener, Lisone can’t wait to finally get his FC career up and running after a long off season.
“It’s been a good pre-season. Obviously, coming from a new club, you know pre-season is where it builds brotherhood, where you start to get to know your mates and work hard with your mates. So, it has been good.
“But I think we are ready now to get started properly and for round one. The boys are sick of bashing each other, I know I am, we want to bash someone else.
“When you’re a player you just know when it’s time to play and when you’re ready to play. We’re ready!”

Hull FC had to watch on through gritted teeth last season as neighbours Hull KR conquered all in front of them to win the treble. Now, as they get ready to begin a second full season under new owners and head coach John Cartwright, there’s a growing belief FC can challenge for honours themselves this year.
Pointing to the signings made, Lisone shares that belief as he explains his excitement to get started at his new home.
“It is exciting,” Lisone adds, when asked about the season ahead.”You look at the boys we have and there’s a bit of everything. We’ve got great youth, old heads, new arrivals, so it’s just exciting to get started and see where we are.
“I heard a lot of good stories about our fans and obviously fans play a big part home and away. So yeah, I’m really excited about experiencing that. I can’t wait.”
