Samedov (22-1, 11 KOs) first dropped Gutiérrez in the seventh. The Colombian beat the count and fought on, but the momentum had shifted. A second knockdown early in the 11th forced another count, and although the referee waved the action back in, Samedov pressed the advantage and finished the bout with 15 seconds left in the round.

The fight was scheduled for 12.

Samedov began stepping in behind the jab as the middle rounds unfolded, working the body before returning upstairs with straight rights. The pressure wore on Gutiérrez (11-1, 7 KOs), whose resistance faded as the exchanges grew heavier late.

The interim belt was sanctioned with the full WBA championship still unsettled. Entering as the organization’s No. 1-ranked contender at 130 pounds, Samedov now moves into position for a shot at the full title.

For Gutiérrez, it was the first defeat of his professional career and his first fight at the super featherweight limit after competing at higher weights.

The bout headlined an RCC Boxing promotion card and streamed live on the promoter’s official YouTube channel.
