The Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, formerly known as Sustrans, is promoting the Love Your Network grant scheme in Oxfordshire and across England to support volunteer groups who maintain and improve sections of the National Cycle Network.

The National Cycle Network is a 12,000-mile UK-wide network of signed paths and routes for walking, wheeling and cycling – connecting local communities to the outdoors and the things that matter most to them.

Katie Aartse-Tuyn, director of volunteering at the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, said: “Local community groups and volunteers are at the centre of our people-powered movement, helping nurture the National Cycle Network across neighbourhoods in every corner of the UK.

“We’re delighted to launch Love Your Network across England and to offer more resources to support the amazing work of volunteers throughout the country.

“The love and care they show for our Network keeps these local lifelines alive and helps even more people walk, wheel and cycle.”

The grant scheme is funded by Active Travel England and delivered through the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.

It offers resources and equipment for community groups across England, who are helping care for their local trails.

Applications for the scheme are now open, with a deadline of June 14.

Groups interested in applying or learning more can visit the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust website.

The charity works with volunteer community groups, landowners and local authorities to keep these routes inclusive and welcoming spaces.
