Over 100 workers have been made redundant in Cheshire and on Anglesey

Liquidators have been called in at engineering firm owned by a North Wales company. The Ethikos Group based on Deeside bought electrical and mechanical engineering company Gilks in 2020.
This had followed the acquisition of the Delta Rock Group in 2017 by Ethikos, founded by Scott and Gail Davies.
Based in Nantwich and with a second unit at Mona on Anglesey, Gilks has provided electrical and facilities management services to commercial and public sector clients for more than 60 years.
Its work included installation, testing and maintenance services, delivered through a portfolio of contracted projects across multiple sites nationally.
It is understood the Anglesey base handled a contract with the Ministry of Defence – working with RAF Valley. Gwynedd and Anglesey councils are also listed as clients.

But last week workers at Gilks, which employed over 100 staff, were initially told the company was going into administration before later being informed it was being liquidated.
Ethikos chief executive Scott Davies confirmed administrators have been appointed to Gilks (Nantwich) Ltd and FRP are handling all matters.
Martyn Rickels and Simon Farr of specialist business advisory firm FRP were appointed Joint Administrators.

FRP said: “The appointment follows the Company facing a period of financial pressures and wider sector challenges which impacted trading. Despite extensive efforts by the Directors to secure investment and explore all available options, including alternative funding and restructuring routes, it was not possible to achieve a viable solution for the business.
“As a result, Gilks has ceased trading and unfortunately 105 people have been made redundant. The Joint Administrators are supporting affected employees with claims to the Redundancy Payments Service and undertaking a full wind down of the business.”
Martyn Rickels, Restructuring Advisory Partner at FRP and Joint Administrator of Gilks (Nantwich) Limited, said: “The Company operated within a sector that has faced increasing cost pressures and challenging market conditions in recent years.
“Regrettably, despite exploring all options, it was not possible to secure a viable future for the business. Our immediate priority is to support employees with their redundancy claims and to ensure an orderly wind down of the Company’s affairs.”
