A number of must-see releases are set to premiere on Netflix and Prime Video this August that you’ll want to keep an eye out for.
The streaming services are releasing movies spanning the genres in the next few weeks, including an “unpredictable” Vanessa Kirby thriller and an anticipated murder mystery based on a huge bestseller.
Here Digital Spy has rounded up five ones to add to your watchlists.
The Pickup
Comedy stars Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer and Pete Davidson team up for this heist movie, which focuses on two mismatched armoured truck drivers.
While on a routine cash pickup, the pair are ambushed by criminals who have plans beyond the money, putting them in a deadly pursuit. Amid the chaos, the “unlikely duo must navigate high-risk danger, clashing personalities, and one very bad day that keeps getting worse”.
Prime Video
The Pickup comes from director Tim Story, and also features performances from Eva Longoria and Ismael Cruz Córdova, as well as former NFL player Marshawn Lynch and WWE star Roman Reigns.
Streaming on Prime Video from 6 August.

Night Always Comes
The Fantastic Four: First Steps star Vanessa Kirby leads this “unpredictable and deeply, deeply human” Netflix thriller, which takes place over the course of one evening.
The story focuses on Lynette, who tries to raise money to save her family home before the clock runs out, confronting her dark past in the process.
Also starring Jennifer Jason Leigh and Zack Gottsagen, Night Always Comes is directed by Benjamin Caron, who teased its “exploration of survival and sacrifice and the idea of quiet heroism” to Tudum, adding: “It asks the question, ‘Who gets to feel safe, and at what cost?'”
Streaming on Netflix from 15 August.

However, she has a chance meeting with Jack (Riverdale‘s KJ Apa), which “sparks an unexpected romance that leads to deep emotional discovery”.
The romantic drama comes from ABBA and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape director Lasse Hallström, and also stars The School for Good and Evil’s Sofia Wylie and Ozark‘s Madison Thompson.
