Crime thriller Curfew is set to continue on TV tonight. The gripping series began this week on Channel 5 and follows a veteran detective who is paired with a young rookie after the brutal killing of a young woman. Together they investigate the crime amid a world in which all men live under an overnight curfew, tracked with ankle tags for women’s safety.

The latest episode airs at 10pm on Channel 5 this evening, while the show – streaming in its entirety – has shot straight to the top of the broadcaster’s online charts.

Starring Stay Close’s Sarah Parish, Doctor Who’s Mandip Gill and Anita Dobson, EastEnders’ Lucy Benjamin and Bobby Brazier, Gavin and Stacey’s Larry Lamb, and singer Alexandra Burke, Curfew first premiered back in 2024 on Paramount+.

The show was called a “riveting drama” by one viewer on IMDb, who added: “I loved this. Lots of twists and turns and excellent performances all round. Stylishly made and nice and snappy in terms of plot development. Had me hooked right until the end.”

Another labelled it “thought provoking” and had “good intrigue, a few surprises and good acting all around”.

“I enjoyed Curfew, near future dystopia is one of my favourite genre,” a third added.

“I often wish they spent more time showing us the world and it’s wider implications than dumping it all out in exposition and dialogue, and I felt Curfew did a decent job of world building.”

In Digital Spy‘s review of the show, we compared Parish’s lead DI Pamela Green to Slow Horses’ Jackson Lamb, in that she “doesn’t play by the rules, thinks she knows better than her superiors and is incredibly miserable”.

“Does Curfew offer some contrived reflections and generalisations on femicide, murder and women’s safety? Sure,” we added. “But it’s also thought-provoking and offers some of the boldest statements about the epidemic of violence against women.”

Curfew airs and streams on Channel 5.
