What if traumatic memories could be deleted? That’s the “Black Mirror”-esque conceit behind Recollection.
The sci-fi thriller will be released on Digital March 19 via Persimmon. Watch the trailer below.
Set in the year 2033, the film follows Kate Parker, a young employee at Vitality, a corporation that governs society through mandatory memory cleansing. When a system glitch floods Kate’s mind with a life that was forcibly erased, she becomes a target of Vitality’s efforts to reclaim her past.
On the run, she teams up with Teddy, who believes evidence of his wife’s murder is hidden within Kate’s memories. They race to uncover the truth and expose Vitality before Kate loses her identity once again.
Rosslyn Luke stars with Falk Hentschel (“Legends of Tomorrow”), Cesar Garcia (Fast & Furious), Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), and the late Gary Graham (“Star Trek: Enterprise”).
From Paradox Studios, the family affair is directed by Caden Butera from a script he co-wrote with brother Rylan Butera, produced by mother Jackie Butera and executive produced by father Mark Butera.
“Growing up with a mental health therapist mother, I’ve always gravitated towards psychology and stories of personal resilience,” said Caden Butera. “Since the sci-fi genre allows for small, personal ideas to be explored in a spectacle-induced, larger-than-life way, making a mental health-driven sci-fi seemed like the obvious choice.
“So many movies about loss are about moving on and learning to let go. As someone who maybe compartmentalizes and moves on too quickly, I wanted to tell a story that encourages you to hold on and remember.”
