Tame Impala‘s Kevin Parker has revealed that he slept through the recent Grammys ceremony and forgot he was up for an award.
The ceremony took place on February 1st at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and should have been a night to remember for Parker, with Tame Impala winning the Grammy in the ‘Best Dance/Electronic Recording’ category for ‘End of Summer’.
It marked the second Grammy win of Parker’s career, with Tame Impala previously sharing the ‘Best Dance/Electronic Recording’ award in 2025 for their euphoric Justic collaboration, ‘Neverender’.
While many artists dream their entire career of becoming a Grammy-winner, Parker wasn’t even in the country, let alone at the Crypto.com Arena, to celebrate his victory in 2026.
In a new conversation with Mac DeMarco for Interview Magazine, which took place just hours after his victory at the Grammys, Parker, who was speaking from his home in Western Australia, confessed, “Look, I’m going to be dead honest with you. I forgot they were even on.”
Parker then revealed that not only had he forgotten the Grammys were taking place, but also, “I forgot that I was nominated as well.”
He continued, “You have to imagine my confusion because in Australia, we wake up and then we find out about what happened in America last night, so my phone has absolutely blown up. I’ve got 30 messages on my phone, all saying congratulations. None of them are saying what for. And I’m like, ‘What for, motherfuckers?’”
2026 is set to be a hectic year for Tame Impala after the monumental success of Deadbeat in October. Their European tour will begin at the Super Bock Arena in Porto on April 4th, which will take them to cities such as Lisbon, Bologna, Madrid, Lyon, Barcelona, Prague, Oslo, Berlin, Turin, Düsseldorf, Amsterdam and Paris.
Then, they will arrive in the UK in May for dates in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow, before closing the run with a lone Irish date in Dublin.
Tame Impala also recently confirmed a new North American tour, which will kick off in Miami on July 7th and conclude in Houston on September 19th. Djo and Dominic Fike will be special guests for the run.
