Manchester United’s search for a midfielder has expanded to Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is no secret that Manchester United will make a high-profile midfield signing or two in the summer transfer window, but the question is who will be at the top of Ineos’ shopping list.

According to TeamTalk, United are showing interest in Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha as a potential target for the summer.

United would ideally want Nmecha to join £85m target Elliot Anderson as part of the summer midfield rebuild, and he reportedly has a price tag of £52.5m.

There have been previous links between United and Nmecha in 2023, and it seems Ineos could revisit the 25-year-old star.

Many United fans will not be familiar with Nmecha’s game, but his Bundesliga profile paints an accurate picture of what supporters can expect if he makes the move to Old Trafford.

Nmecha’s style of play is compared to Bayern Munich star and Champions League winner Leon Goretzka as they are both box-to-box operators.

WhoScored labels Nmecha’s dribbling and concentration as strengths, and his physical attributes make him a strong fit for the Premier League.

United came close to signing Goretzka on multiple occasions, and Fabrizio Romano commented on Goretzka rumours this month, but it seems Ineos are now looking at the next best profile coming through the ranks in Germany.

Felix Nmecha graduated from Man City academy

If Nmecha does make a move to Old Trafford, he will be familiar with the Manchester surroundings from his time at arch-rivals Manchester City.

Nmecha spent 12 years in City’s academy before graduating to the first team under Pep Guardiola.

He only made three senior appearances for City before leaving to join Wolfsburg in 2021 and then Dortmund in 2023.

Not only would Nmecha have a chance to show City what they are missing, but he would also have an interesting rival in his younger brother Lukas Nmecha, who currently plays for Leeds United in the Premier League.
