After losing the December 2025 sales battle to the Switch 2, PS5 was once again the best-selling console in the US this January, ranked by both units and dollar sales.
The console, which is now more than five-years-old, was propped up by some lingering holiday bundles. But while it doesn’t sound like there was a huge amount of difference between the devices, it’s still impressive to see Sony’s system coming out on top against Nintendo’s all-new machine.
Content – “The Clash Royale show seems to be officially over, as the game falls out of the top 10 ranking with -49% revenue over Dec 2025,” said Sam Aune of Sensor Tower. “The game to keep your eye on is Loom Games’ Pixel Flow!, which grew IAP revenue 79% month over month.”

The most important news is that the industry saw a 3% improvement in overall sales year-over-year – hardly revolutionary, but better than a decline in this challenged economy.
Elsewhere, there are few highlights to speak of – January is always slow – but Ghost of Yotei continues to sell extraordinarily well, much to the chagrin of a select few on social media. And it’s also worth acknowledging Code Vein 2, which was the only new release to chart.
