Birmingham City sit two points behind sixth-placed Wrexham in the race for the Championship play-offs
Birmingham City manager Chris Davies watches on as Bright Osayi-Samuel takes a throw-in
Chris Davies is refusing to look too closely at the Championship table after Birmingham City moved closer to the play-off places.
Victory at Norwich on Saturday extended Blues’ unbeaten run to eight league matches and moved them up to seventh in the table, two points shy of sixth-placed Wrexham.
Buoyed by a January window which saw six new players added to their squad, Blues have hit form in the Championship and supporters are starting to dream of back-to-back promotions.

However, with only seven points between sixth and 16th, Davies isn’t taking Blues’ current position for granted.
“It’s so congested and you can throw a blanket over so many teams,” said Davies. “I tend not to look at the league table too much.
“Once you get to the last five or six games it will be a lot clearer but we’re in the mixer, as many teams are.
“If you said to me at the start of the season we would be here with 13 games to go I would be absolutely happy with that.
“We’ve got to go for each game because there are a lot of good teams.
“We were in League One last year, as I keep reminding everyone, we came up on this adventure to try and be as successful as we can and we’ve given ourselves a chance.”
Davies is confident Blues have sussed out the Championship now and will have a strong end to the season.
The question is whether they can finish well enough to make up for a seven-game stretch in December which saw Blues take just three points from a possible 21.
Davies added: “The players are confident and enjoying what they’re doing, what we don’t need to do is start focusing on every point, this and that, because the league’s too unpredictable.
“We’ve got 13 games to go and I’m confident we will finish strong, that’s what I will say. I feel we’ve improved the squad, we’ve got players coming back from injury, and we look like a team that’s up for the fight.”
