Hamnet might have missed out on Best Film at the BAFTAs, but did take home Outstanding British Film and Jessie Buckley picked up Leading Actress as widely expected. Buckley is also nominated for the Oscar in the same category, one of eight Oscar nominations for the movie.

The celebrated adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel tells a fictional account of how William Shakespeare (Paul Mescal) and his wife Agnes (Jessie Buckley) cope with the death of their 11-year-old son Hamnet, which supposedly inspired Shakespeare to write Hamlet.

Hamnet is still out in UK cinemas, but if you don’t fancy crying with a bunch of strangers in the cinema, don’t worry as it is now available to watch at home. So here’s all the information about its home release, and when it’ll arrive to watch on streaming services.

When will Hamnet be available to stream?

At the time of writing, Hamnet is not available to watch on any streaming service in the UK or the US. Unfortunately, you might be in for quite a wait to be able to watch it on any streamer.

In the UK, Universal movies tend to be released on Sky Cinema and NOW (with Cinema membership) around seven months after their cinema release. That puts Hamnet’s likely streaming debut in the UK in August 2026.

In the US, Focus Features movies usually arrive on Peacock around seven weeks after their wide release in cinemas. However, this would have been late January and that never happened, so right now we don’t know when it’ll arrive on Peacock.

Hamnet is now available to buy or rent in the US (more information on that below), so that could mean it’ll arrive on Peacock ahead of the Oscars next month.
