Hull FC have named key spine duo John Asiata and Jake Arthur in their 21-man squad to face York Knights this Friday night. Both players are yet to feature in Super League this season but will be given every chance to prove they are fit enough to take to the field at the MKM Stadium.

Asiata and Arthur are two of four changes to the squad, with Zak Hardaker and young back row forward Will Kirby also coming in. They replace Joe Batchelor, with scans confirming a calf strain that will keep the player out for six weeks. Will Pryce also drops out after confirmation of a devastating season-ending ACL injury on Monday, with Logan Moy and Lloyd Kemp too making way and likely to play for the reserves at Warrington on Saturday.

That seemingly leaves a two-way battle for the vacant full-back spot, with Davy Litten and Hardaker the two options. Litten played the position in the Challenge Cup at Salford earlier this month, scoring three tries.

Litten’s inclusion at full-back would leave Hardaker and one of Arthur Romano or Tom Briscoe to take the two centre spots, with Batchelor’s back row spot taken by either Romano or Connor Bailey. As always, there are options for John Cartwright and co. to go at.

Callum Kemp is also included should Arthur not make the matchday side, with Yusuf Aydin filling in at loose-forward in Asiata’s absence.

Elsewhere on the injury front, Hull remain without Herman Ese’ese (Achilles) and James Bell (knee). Ligi Sao is serving the second and final game of a two-match ban.
