BBC presenter Ugo Monye was left embarrassed after his phone went off in the middle of a broadcast, with pundit Sam Warburton jokingly calling for the host to be hit with a “massive fine”.
The former England and British & Irish Lions wing was hosting the latest episode of Six Nations Rugby Special when he was interrupted by his phone alarm going off, with his colleagues jumping at the opportunity to take the mickey as the recording was temporarily halted.
A clip of the mishap has been shared on BBC Sport’s social channels, with Monye shown filming the opening segment and introducing Warburton and fellow pundit John Barclay before his phone is heard going off.

“So round three of the Six Nations is done and dusted,” the presenter began.
“I’m in the studio with Sam Warburton and John Barclay for our company.
“I thought I’d first ask the question, a half-term repo…oh!” he said as his phone alarm was heard and he rushed to turn it off.

Barclay and Warburton wasted no time in teasing Monye, as the former Scotland international said “Oh my god”.
Ex-Wales and Lions captain Warburton then declared: “That’s a fine. That’s a massive fine. What a fine.”

“You had the audacity before we started to call me unprofessional,” Barclay continued, with the presenter left in stitches as Warburton chimed in: “From our leader!”.
The ex-Glasgow and Scarlets man then cheekily offered to step in for Monye, telling him: “If you’ve got somewhere to be, I’m sure me and Sam can do this better.”
Monye and Warburton couldn’t help but laugh at Barclay’s remark, with the host eventually composing himself and saying: “Okay, cool. Sorry, my bad” as the recording got back underway.
