An investigation has been launched after a man sustained serious head injuries in an alleged assault outside a North East pub. At around 10.30pm on Friday, January 16, police received a report of an altercation outside of The Dun Cow pub in the Ellison Road area of Gateshead.
It was reported that a group of people were involved in a disagreement, which resulted in one man being assaulted. Emergency service attended and found a man in his 20s who had sustained serious injuries to his face and head. He was taken to hospital for treatment and was later discharged.
Two men, aged 26 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of affray and one 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault. A 22-year-old woman was also arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They have all since been released on police bail pending further police inquiries. A number of inquiries have been ongoing since the report was first made to identify all of those involved, including a recent review of CCTV footage available.
Today, officers released images of a man they would like to identify in connection with the report. It is believed he was in the area at the time of the assault and may have information which could assist the investigation.
