BRIT Awards viewers made the same complaint as one of Jack Whitehall’s jokes was censored during tonight’s show. The former A League of Their Own panelist hosted the star studded ceremony for the sixth time.

It is the first time the ceremony has moved to Manchester from its traditional home in London. Greater Manchester mayor, Andy Burnham, who was born in Old Roan, was in attendance at the ceremony at the Co-Op Live. As is tradition, Jack roasted the guests as he made reference to Mr Burnham’s standing in the Labour Party.

He said: “Oh my God, it’s Andy Burnham, yes, legend, the only party he’s allowed into these days. And Lisa Nandy, this must be the politicians’ table, I wonder who else is here.”

The following remark was censored by the ITV broadcast. However, PA reports the comment was in relation to Lord Peter Mandelson, who stepped away from the Labour Party this month over his alleged association with Jeffrey Epstein.

According to PA, the joke was: “I wonder who else is here. I think that I saw Peter Mandelson on the guest list.” The comment wasn’t the only censored material during the evening.

Noel Gallagher’s speech was censored when he was honoured as Songwriter of the Year. Our sister site Mirror Online reported his comment was in relation to supporting Manchester City, which was booed by members of the audience who don’t support the Citizens.

Comments from Brooklyn indie band Geese and I’m A Celeb winner, Angry Ginge, were also censored during the broadcast. Viewers on social media platform X were frustrated with the censored comments.

Maddy said: “What is the point in this if they’re just going to bleep everything out.”

Bryony added: “It’s just turned 9pm, bore off with the bleep now.”

MJ posted: “What did Noel say to get bleeped over? The crowd booed. What did he say?”

Clare said: “was hoping Noel Gallagher would ask Robbie Williams for a fight or something. Awards have gone soft these days. Everything is getting censored. Bring back the Brat awards.”

Billy commented: “Why the f**k is the #Brits2026 being censored? It’s well past what used to be watershed in this country. It’s time for adult entertainment ffs.”

Calli said: “why is everything censored.”
