The artist’s win was announced at the ceremony at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester.
Previous winners include Sir George Martin, who worked with The Beatles, and Calvin Harris.
But, for reasons not revealed, PinkPantheress pulled out of attending the event to collect her award in person.
Writing on Instagram, she said: “Devastated to say I won’t be able to make it to the Brits tonight, but so grateful for all the love on the award.
“Good luck to all the nominees.”

The singer-songwriter was announced as the recipient by the BRIT Awards before the event and said it felt “almost a bit crazy”.
The artist – whose real name is Victoria Beverley Walker – said her music production is the thing she is “proudest of”, and hopes the award “inspires others to pursue their passion”.
Shortly after, PinkPantheress was also revealed as the guest announcer on trams in Manchester ahead of the ceremony.
In the message, she can be heard telling passengers: “Hey Manchester, it’s PinkPantheress.
“The BRIT Awards are in Manchester for the very first time, and we’re celebrating at Co-op Live.

“If you’re heading to the show, make sure you pop off the tram at Etihad Campus.
“Keep it cute, keep it moving, and I’ll see you at the BRITS.”
PinkPantheress was also nominated in other categories of the awards, including best artist of the year and best dance act, but they were won by Olivia Dean and Fred again…, Skepta & PlaqueBoyMax.
The pop-singer, who moved to Canterbury with her family when she was five, kick-started her career on social media.
Her hits include Boy’s A Liar, Illegal and Stateside.
Last year, she was made a Doctor of Music at Canterbury Cathedral by the University of Kent.
Having won the BBC’s Sound of 2022 competition, she has since been streamed more than a billion times.
