The British No.1 was on the lookout for a new coach after her temporary partnership with British coach Mark Petchey was forced to end due to his TV commitments.

Roig, who worked with Nadal for the majority of a legendary career which saw him win 22 Grand Slams, becomes Raducanu’s eighth coach.

He has been working alongside the 22-year-old on a trial basis following the conclusion of Wimbledon and after an upturn in form, Raducanu has decided to take the partnership through to the end of 2025.

Her attention now turns to the Cincinnati Open alongside Roig, as she looks to get a seeded place at Flushing Meadows, where she stunned the tennis world in 2021 by beating Canadian Leylah Fernandez in the final aged 18.

Since then, she has struggled to maintain form with injuries to both her ankle and wrists debilitating her in the two seasons after US Open glory.

Successful surgery has enabled her to return to the top 100 in the world rankings and following the semi-final in Washington, she now sits at No. 33.

Roig has also worked alongside Matteo Berrettini since Nadal’s retirement, having coached with the Spaniard’s uncle Toni for 20 years.

Raducanu is reportedly expected to keep close contact with Petchey during the Cincinnati Open and beyond.
