After a slew of bank branch closures across the country in 2025 and in the first two months of 2026, 108 more are set to close throughout the rest of the year. Lloyds and Halifax are among the major UK banks that are shutting branches this month and through 2026. Several high street banks are making similar moves as more and more customers move to online and mobile banking. However, concern has been shared for older and vulnerable customers who might need in-person banking services.

Banks have reassured customers that services are easily available via official apps and websites. A spokeswoman for Lloyds said: “From our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service to local banking options like our community bankers, PayPoint and access to all of our Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland branches, we’re giving our customers the flexibility to bank wherever and whenever they need us.” Additionally, in-person services will move to post offices as a result of some of the closures. Of the below-listed closures, more than 100 will happen before summer.

LINK, a group that was set up to support and inform those who rely on access to cash, have produced a live list of closures for all major bank branches.

In 2026, a total of 38 Halifax branches are set to close across the UK. Meanwhile, a staggering 70 Lloyds branches are closing in 2026, on top of the ones that have already shut.
