It looks like David Moyes was right. Speaking after Everton rounded-off their participation in the Premier League Summer Series with a spirited and entertaining 2-2 draw with his former club Manchester United, the Scot hinted at what was to come this week.

The Blues boss said: “I think there will be deals. I think we’re getting much closer. But I’ve got to say, I thought that four or five weeks ago as well. Obviously, we’re getting near the tickly bit, and we’ve got to get some things on.”

It has since transpired that Everton, who have made four signings so far this summer but need to make at least double that amount before the transfer window closes on September 1, are closing in on Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and are attempting to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling.

The latest on those two players dominate our latest transfer round-up but there is also a new name thrown into the mix as the Blues’ summer recruitment ramps up.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall deal agreed

The headline news: Everton have agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

It is our understanding that the fee is closer to the £25m mark than £30m but it is a still a significant transfer for the Blues and one that David Moyes had first chased in January.

The 26-year-old remained at Stamford Bridge, however, and he went on to appear in Chelsea’s victories in the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup finals.

But it now appears Moyes is close to getting his man with journalist Fabrizio Romano stating that Dewsbury-Hall will undergo a medical at Everton on Tuesday (July 5).

Tyler Dibling counter offer

A right winger remains a top target for the Blues. Their efforts to bring one in has not been for the want of trying.

Francisco Conceicao made the permanent move to Juventus, Johan Bakayoko joined RB Leipzig, Real Sociedad gave no indication they were willing to sell Takefusa Kubo, while it appears that while Malick Fofana would be open to leaving Lyon, he would prefer to sign for a club who will be playing in the Champions League next season.

Enter Tyler Dibling. The Blues have made multiple bids for the 19-year-old with the latest reportedly being in the region of £40m.

However, Southampton are proving to be tough negotiators. That said, it does seem they are willing to continue to talk.

The Athletic report that the Saints, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have made a counter proposal after knocking back Everton’s latest offer.

It is said that Southampton would accept an upfront £45m fee plus £5m in ‘easily achievable’ add ons plus a 25 per cent sell-on cause.

The report adds that is beyond what the Blues would be prepared to pay for Dibling and that they have informed the Saints they are now looking at other targets.

Dion Lopy £21m bid ‘prepared’

One of those other targets isn’t a winger, though. Well, not according to Fichajes.

Instead, they say Everton are preparing a £21m offer for another centre-midfielder – namely Dion Lopy of Almeria.

The report states the Blues want to strengthen their engine room options “with a physical profile, with range and ball-winning ability, and the young African fits perfectly into that plan.”

The 23-year-old, who is a Senegal international team-mate of Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye, was one of the best players for Almeria last season.

But after failing to win promotion to La Liga, they could be susceptible to a big bid.
