Christina Applegate gave a shoutout to her friend and longtime colleague Will Ferrell during an appearance on Wednesday’s episode of The View.

The actress, 54, who was there to promote her new memoir You With the Sad Eyes, praised her Anchorman co-star Ferrell and the film’s director Adam McKay for giving up portions of their salaries to increase her pay after receiving a first offer that was ‘offensive,’ per People.

‘When they came in with the initial offer, it was, you know, a little offensive,’ recalled Applegate, who has been grappling with the effects of MS in recent years.

‘And I said, “I can’t. I know my worth, and I can’t do that,”‘ said Applegate, whose book also revealed details of her double mastectomy.

Granted, Ferrell and McKay’s salaries on the 2004 film Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy were significantly higher than Applegate’s.

She added, ‘They wanted me bad enough, and they said, “Well, we’re gonna chip in.” Thank God they did because it was one of the best experiences of my entire life.’

Working on the 1970s-set comedy, which revolved around the chauvinistic world of a San Diego news team, proved to be ‘such a lesson,’ Applegate said.

‘I had never done improv before. Learning from that group of dudes… that is the masterclass that people pay for. Steve Carell, like, taught it. Adam McKay developed an entire new way of doing it with his group.

‘To get in there and have that happen was absolutely magic, and it’s been invaluable to me and my career,’ she said.

Elsewhere in her book, Applegate detailed her battle with MS and body dysmorphia and wrote that her initial weight gain of 40 pounds often ‘bothered me more than the disease. I didn’t look in the mirror for a year.

‘Then I was put on a clear‑liquid diet because of my stomach issues, and all of a sudden, everything just dropped off of me,’ she described, per Page Six.

‘Within seven months, all of it was gone, and I was down by 50 pounds or more. These days, my legs are tinier than they’ve ever been.’

The Married… With Children alum announced she was diagnosed with MS in August 2021, when she was 49 and filming the final season of her Netflix series Dead to Me.

In her book, which was released on Tuesday, she revealed how the debilitating disease caused stomach problems that have resulted in her significant and ‘dangerous’ weight loss of over 50 pounds.

‘The illness has given me serious stomach issues,’ she shared. ‘As I write this, there are tamales downstairs that are the best tamales you could ever have – I want to eat five of them right now, I’m so hungry – but I know if I do, I’ll probably end up in the ER again, as I have so many times recently.’

Applegate revealed her body has lost an incredible amount of muscle and that her legs are ‘scary looking.’

‘I have no muscles – just sticks. It’s dangerous to be walking around with zero muscles on my body: it means my bones aren’t protected if I fall, and it scares me,’ she wrote.

‘But there’s still that little voice in my head saying, “You’re really skinny. You have the legs you always wanted. Good for you,”‘ she said, adding, ‘This is the sickness. But she’s not going to win.’
