Tributes have been paid to Dr Sujeyanthan Jayaratnasingam who worked at University Hospital Coventry
A touching tribute to a highly respected doctor has led to the installation of two lifesaving public access defibrillators at Warwickshire Golf and Country Club. Fondly known as Sujey, Dr Sujeyanthan Jayaratnasingam was a Consultant Anaesthetist in the Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust, where he served with distinction and compassion for 29 years.
He passed away a year ago, leaving behind a legacy of clinical excellence, kindness and warmth that continues to resonate with those who knew him. Following a fundraising initiative spearheaded by colleagues, friends and family, and supported by UHCW Charity, over £10,000 was raised.
These funds have facilitated the purchase of two defibrillators for the golf club, where Sujey was a member.

“It is reassuring to know that Sujey’s legacy will continue to help safeguard the lives of others,” said Jonathan.
“This tribute stands as a fitting reflection of his life – combining his love of golf withhis lifelong dedication to care – and as a reminder of the profound impact hecontinues to have on those who knew him. We are sincerely grateful to everyonewho contributed.”

One of the defibrillators is the club’s first to be mounted on a roving golf buggy, enabling swift deployment throughout the course and substantially improving emergency response capabilities. Both units will be accessible to members of the public when needed.
Funds were gathered through a charity walk in July 2025, a golf tournament and further fundraising efforts coordinated by Alan with the backing of colleagues and friends.
Richard Lee, Golf Operations Manager at Warwickshire Golf and Country Club, said: “We are humbled by this very kind donation.
“These defibrillators will continue Dr Jayaratnasingam’s legacy, helping to safeguard the health of our community and serving as a lasting reminder of the difference one person can make. “
