Claudia and Mika filmed an introductory segment on the station bridge.
A piano was standing on a platform outside the branch of WHSmith ready for the participants.
Before they got to play, world-renowned Japanese jazz composer and pianist Hiromi gave a virtuoso performance.
A large crowd gave her a huge round of applause.
Before taking a break from filming, Claudia paused to say hello to a pet dog belonging to a member of the crowd who was watching from the comfort of their buggy.
It’s the fourth series of The Piano. Season 3 culminated with Diane Newell crowned the winner.
The 87-year-old widow from Newcastle, who used to play in RAF bands, performed her original composition titled Dreams, in memory of her late husband.
