A driver was taken to hospital after a car flipped onto its roof in a crash. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5.56pm on Wednesday, March 11, following reports of a crash involving a single vehicle on Edge Lane Drive.
Two fire engines from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended alongside Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service. Crews arrived at the scene at 6.01pm to find a car overturned and resting on its roof.
The driver had managed to get out of the vehicle before firefighters arrived. They were treated by paramedics at the scene and later taken to hospital by ambulance.
A number of bus diversions were in place while the incident was cleared. Posting on X, Arriva North West said: “Due to a police incident at Edge Lane / Mill Lane, service 7 Will divert via Holt Rd, Kensington, Prescot Rd & Queens Drive in both directions, omitting a section of Edge Lane.
“Service 204 will divert via Childwall Rd & Queens Drive in both directions, omitting Mill Lane & Edge Lane.
“Service 62 will divert via Picton Rd & Rathbone Rd in both directions.”

A spokesperson for MFRS said: “Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended an incident earlier this evening on Edge Lane Drive, Liverpool.
“Crews were alerted at 5.56pm and arrived on scene at 6.01pm. Two fire engines attended alongside Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).
“Fire crews arrived to find a road traffic collision (RTC) involving one vehicle, which was flipped on its roof. The driver was out of the vehicle prior to crews’ arrival and was conveyed to hospital by NWAS.
“Firefighters remained on standby until it was determined no action was required, where they then left the scene at 6.22pm.”
The road has since reopened, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix.
