Ofcom orders tech firms to block underage children from platforms
UK regulator Ofcom has warned major sites and apps to enforce minimum age rules with highly-effective age verification. It has written to major sites/apps used by children – YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and Roblox – giving them until end-April to report back to Ofcom about the action they will take to keep children safe online. Ofcom will report on how have they have responded in May, along with any planned regulatory action for non-compliance.
