The rail subsidiary of the Colas Group will operate and maintain a fleet of mobile maintenance trains for the British infrastructure manager Network Rail for a five-year period.

Colas has announced that its subsidiary Colas Rail UK has signed a five-year contract with Network Rail for the operation and maintenance of its mobile maintenance train fleet, valued at approximately €40m.

Built by the manufacturer Robel, the eight trains allow rail crews to carry out repairs, renovations, and upgrades across the 32,000 km British network more quickly and safely. These “workshops on wheels” are specifically designed to minimize traffic disruption while providing a protected working environment for trackside teams.

The fleet is distributed across various Network Rail operational units throughout England. “This contract demonstrates the trust Network Rail places in Colas Rail as a preferred supplier,” stated Hervé Le Joliff, Chairman of Colas Rail, praising the expertise and innovative capacity of the teams.

With a presence in the United Kingdom for over 25 years, Colas Rail operates across 12 rail disciplines covering the design, construction, and maintenance of transport infrastructure.
