Mystery surrounds a Harry Potter tribute show that was due to be staged in Coventry. Tickets were sold for the Music of Harry Potter production, organised by Jenmat Productions, on February 7 this year at the Coventry Central Hall.
But a Trust Pilot reviewer posted on the Jenmat Productions page that they had booked a ticket for the Coventry event – only to be told it was cancelled just before the event.
The reviewer claimed that they were struggling to contact the company about a refund and dubbed it a ‘complete scam’.

Further investigations by CoventryLive revealed that independent websites that had listed the show had been changed to say that the show had been cancelled.
No booking confirmed
CoventryLive contacted the Coventry Central Hall, also known as the Methodist Central Hall, and asked if the event had been booked for February 7.
In a statement, a spokesperson told us that enquiries were made about using the venue but no official confirmation for the show was ever made.
The Hall said that it had been contacted by people about the cancelled event and they were directing them to the company.
“Last September an enquiry was received regarding the availability of the hall for the 7 February this year but this booking was not confirmed,” the statement read.
“We have been directing those who have contacted us about the event to the company concerned.”
The Coventry venue is not the only place in the country to have had the same show booked – only for it to never materialise. In fact, the Manchester Evening News reported that in Bolton, fans turned up to watch the show – only to be greeted by a sign that the company behind the event had no official booking.
This company was the same one linked to the Coventry show, Jenmat Productions.

On the Jenmat Productions website, it explains that the company is going into liquidation.
“Jenmat Productions Ltd has appointed an Insolvency Practitioner as Liquidator and the formal liquidation process is now underway following a period of severe trading disruption.
“As a result, all scheduled and forthcoming events will no longer proceed. We recognise the disappointment this will cause and regret that the company has been unable to continue trading.
“For clarity, all events promoted by Jenmat Productions Ltd were genuine productions arranged in good faith with venues and suppliers at the time of promotion. At no point were events advertised without the genuine intention of delivering them.
“In a number of instances, agreed performance dates were subsequently cancelled by venues following external communications and adverse publicity. Those decisions were made independently by the respective venues.
“Jenmat Productions Ltd traded for a number of years, presenting hundreds of live performances across the UK to thousands of audience members. The company’s position deteriorated rapidly following venue-led cancellations and associated financial losses, ultimately leading to the appointment of the Insolvency Practitioner.
“All matters relating to the company’s affairs, including communications with ticket holders and creditors, are now being handled through the formal insolvency process.”
The MEN reported that Jenmat Productions Ltd is still listed as an active company on Companies House.
Jenna Leanne Hopkins, who is listed as director for Jenmat Productions on Companies House, told the MEN: “Jenmat Productions Ltd has appointed an Insolvency Practitioner and the company is now subject to a formal liquidation process. As a result, we are unable to comment further at this time.
“Information regarding the company’s position and the circumstances leading to the appointment of the Insolvency Practitioner is available on the following website: www.jenmatproductions.co.uk.”
CoventryLive has contacted Ms Hopkins to request a response in regards to the Coventry event. There is no evidence of wrongdoing by this individual.
