This was the second most competitive area before the championship, after the back three, featuring some tough calls and big omissions. There are not too many changes here. Greg Fisilau, having not featured once in the Six Nations, drops out, but I still believe he has the potential to be a Test No 8. Replacing Fisilau is Arthur Clark; if England are going to revert to a lock-style flanker at blindside then, simply, they will need more locks.
Ben Curry and George Martin, two enhanced elite player squad members, are omitted once again, with the former dogged by injury and the latter all but obliterated by it. Realistically, though, both could be shoo-ins this time next year.
