Former Hull FC man Liam Knight has posted a parting message to the club and its fans following his return to Australia.
Knight started the 2026 season with the Black and Whites and featured in the club’s first three Super League games. However, he was released from his deal in the aftermath of Hull’s loss at home to York Knights with John Cartwright later confirming that the decision had been made due to the prop’s home sickness.
Joining the club in March 2025, Knight spent just one year with the East Yorkshire outfit, making 22 appearances in all competitions.
Despite missing pre-season, he caught the eye early on in a Hull shirt last year, and quickly became a favourite at the MKM Stadium.
However, a stress fracture saw his 2025 season come to an end in July and he was forced to go under the knife.
He returned to the club for pre-season ahead of this season, after penning a one-year extension, but the decision was made to release him from that deal, with Cartwright claiming Knight’s head was back home in Australia with his partner.
He has now returned down under and the forward has posted a message of gratitude to the Black and Whites.
“Thank you to @hullfcofficial for the last year,” he wrote on Instagram. “It was a privilege to be a part of this great club.
“Thank you to all of the fans who made my time in England so memorable. I wish the club and everyone involved the very best for the 2026 season, thanks for the memories.”
Knight’s next steps remain unknown, but the forward was linked with a return to the NRL during the off-season and if he can find a club, that could well be on the cards for the 31-year-old.
