One topic that is bound to come up in today’s news conference is that of the future of midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The Argentina international cast doubt on his future at the club following Tuesday’s heavy defeat by Paris St-Germain.

When asked by ESPN if he would be with the club next season he said “I don’t know. There are eight games left and the FA Cup. There’s the World Cup and then we’ll see.”

It’s not exactly the kind of message Chelsea supporters would hope to hear from the 25-year-old, who wore the captain’s armband on the night but was substituted after an hour.

Fernandez joined Chelsea for what was a British record transfer fee of £107m (121m euros) in January 2023 and has played more than 150 games for the club- registering 12 goals and six assists this season.

Considering the significant transfer fee Chelsea paid for him, and with more than five years still remaining on his contract, any potential departure would likely require a substantial offer. Even so, speculation linking him with some of Europe’s top clubs continues to linger in the background.
