Manchester United have been linked with a sensational double transfer swoop. United are currently enjoying their best spell in several years under interim manager Michael Carrick.
Since he was brought in to steer the ship until the end of the season, Carrick has overseen seven Premier League victories, one draw and a loss to take his side to third in the Premier League table. With just eight games left to play, United have a great chance of qualifying for the Champions League again.
There is still uncertainty with regards to whether Carrick will be offered the role on a permanent basis come the end of the season. However, securing a Champions League spot will be hugely beneficial for the club in terms of being able to attract better players in the transfer window and taking the next step.

£44m star eyed
United are reportedly monitoring Wolves’ Joao Gomes as they look to overhaul their midfield this summer. The 25-year-old Brazilian was linked with United throughout the January window but Wolves were not open to offers given their relegation struggles.

However, with Rob Edwards’ set to be relegated to the Championship, Gomes is expected to leave Molineux this summer. That has led to interest from several Premier League clubs, including United, ramping up in recent weeks, according to The Manchester Evening News.
Gomes joined Wolves from Flamengo in the summer of 2023 for a fee of £15million. But since being called up to the Brazil squad following his impressive displays for Wolves, as well as signing a new contract last April, he has been valued at £44m. That figure may come down in the summer given Wolves’ impending relegation.
‘Advanced’ Bruno Guimaraes talks

Another Brazilian United are reportedly plotting a move for this summer is Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. Reuters report that the Old Trafford club are in advanced talks to sign Guimaraes in a deal worth £69m.
The Magpies were knocked out of the Champions League this week and are unlikely to qualify for the competition next season, paving the way for the 28-year-old’s exit. His compatriot, Casemiro, has already announced he will leave United this summer and has reportedly personally recommended Guimaraes as his midfield successor, citing his experience and leadership.
It is claimed that initial contacts suggest mutual interest could offer a smooth path towards an agreement. However, there is also interest from Real Madrid, who have long admired the Newcastle captain.
